Day Off - Hot/Humid Up at 11AM - late - we had told Lane Wurster we would be there in North Carolina at 7 or so. Now not until 10-11PM. Pack up, clean up, leave. Lane is the older brother of "That Johnny Wurster kid". We was going to school in North Carolina. Lane went on to work at Mammoth Records. Show Day - Hot/Sunny/Humid The humid South is really sticky but I guess Philly is as well. We get up at 9:30 or so and pack up (I finish the Hardy Boys book!). Show Day - Sunny/Hot/Humid Woke up at 3 in the afternoon - well rested. We lazed around. Dave R. and Rod called - in town and will be over soon. Mike Morrison called - we are all over the CMJ charts. Show Day - [no weather report] Up early at 6AM. We all shower and pack up. Out by 8AM. Drive to New Orleans - 10 hours. Find club - nice place. Arrive early - Repo Man is on the video system. I get to see about 45 minutes of it. Looks like a great flick. I must see it all. I find it amazing that we'd drive for 6-10 hours and then hop out of the van in... more »»

Day Off - Sunny/Hot Up late again - 12:30. No breakfast. Decide to clean out and in van. First we replace fuel filter and clean out the system. Then we dump all our junk on the front lawn. Dave R. and I drive to nearby car wash. Vac out the inside and wash the outside. Back to house, we clean out junk and reload van up. Dinner is ready - beef and noodles - good stuff. Day Off - Sunny/Hot Up 12:30. Made myself eggs. Drank lots of water - tea. Watched TV all day long. We were all just into lazing around. TV-TV-TV. Read some mail and stuff Jackie has sent. DP record review etc. The day passed. Had Bar-BQ chicken, rice and beans for dinner about 8:30-9PM. TV-TV-TV. To bed about 1 or so. The 'DP' is the Daily Pennsylvanian newspaper on the University of Penn campus.... more »»

Show Day - Sunny/Hot Up at 12:30. Hang out and off to Sam's BBQ. Killer food - great meal. Pick up Daniel Johnston. Back to house - leave for San Antonio - 1.5 hour drive. Show Day - Sunny/HUMID Up at 12:30. Laze around and eat bakery stuff Scott brought back from work last night. Went to Mexican restaurant - great tacos. Back to house then to music store - Joe needed strings. Met Brian's father. The food in Austin was always great. Day Off - Sunny/Hot/Humid Sat around. 'Glass Eye' made calls and tried to nail down club where show will be. Hopefully at South Bank - a new club - not sure it will be open. Maybe the Beach Club. Show Day - Sunny/Hot Woke at 9:30. Cleaned up, packed up and left for El Paso TX about 11 AM. Stopped in Albuquerque for gas and discovered that our radiator hose was leaking all over the place. Luckily the station would fix it right away. Took 40 minutes and $21 dollars - on our way. Yet another bit of van trouble. At least this time we didn't have to lose a day (or a show). Day Off - Sunny/Warm Up late at 1PM. Coffee Tylenol, bagels and eggs. Feeling a bit better after a shower. I do laundry. Dave R. and I stay home - the rest go into town for money. Day Off - Sunny/Hot Woke at 7AM. We all shower and pack van - everybody else still asleep. Thanked waking people at 9AM as we left for Albuquerque. Stopped at Waffle House for breakfast. Dave called Jenny Dawson in Santa Fe - no show in Albuquerque - come to Santa Fe - show there tonight. Waffle House quickly ended up on our "DO NOT EAT HERE" list. Dave R. drives on route 10 East. Show Day - [no weather report] Woke at 11:30. Slept very well. Wandered into kitchen - Andy (Sue - our friends girlfriend's brother) was up. Had cereal, juice, more coffee. Day Off - Sunny/HOT Drove through the night. Into Arizona at sun up - I took over driving. I didn't get much sleep at all. Drove the rest of the way to town - 3 hours. Found Impulse club. Parked - walked to nearby Burger King 10:30AM - ate food and drank stuff - killed an hour - wandered back. Drove to a record store near the the University of Arizona. Show Day - Sunny/Hot Woke up late - same stuff. Playing Safari Sam's in Huntington Beach tonight. Dave and Dave got the new tires we needed - took them 7 stores to find the right ones. Show Day - Sunny/Warm Up again in the same California fashion. Lazed around and out by 3 - ate at Carl Jr's again. Off to Cornhusker's. Gig with GI's. Arrived early and walked around town. 6:30 we went into the club. Played pool. Normally this is a huge heavy metal joint. Redneck's inside. Jukebox played some rude trucker songs - funny stuff. Show Day - Sunny/Warm Woke late - the usual morning stuff. Show at Madame Wong's in Chinatown. Left about 3:30. After dinner at Carl's Jr. Chicken sandwiches are the kill - went to club. LA Chinatown has an extensive website. We don't have Carl's Jr. restaurants here in Pennsylvania. I haven't heard anyone use the expression "the kill" in like...18 years. Day Off - [no weather report] Woke at 9AM. Made some calls. Steve Fritz wants us mid September for "Terminal" Benefit show with "Christmas". We made packages of records and press pack. Dave R. and I went to post office and Bob's Big Boy. Back to Terry's. Steve Fritz was a Philadelphia scenster who published a music zine called "Terminal". It was a newsprint tabloid sized affair.
