Show Day - Cool/Sunny

Up at 10:30. shower and out by 12. Look for food and find a HoJo's - eat a good breakfast. Drive to Minneapolis. I sleep on the floor for a few hours. We see the Johnson's on the highway and we caravan it up with them for a while. We pull ahead later and lose them. Arrive in town at 7:30 or so. The "Uptown" is a cool place. Load in and the Johnson's arrive shortly after. After loading in we eat at club - an incredible meal. Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and filling - with a beer - a real good meal.

In an effort to actually stretch out, you could actually wedge yourself on the floor at the feet of others in the van. Mmmmm - I'm getting hungry just mentioning our dinner.

We set up - the club seems to have no sound guy so Dan and Lee set up the shitty selection of mikes and broken stands. We do a quick check - pretty good sound. Johnson's set up and do a check - sounds good. Allison, Jenny and Sarah show up - we hang out and talk to them. The Johnson's play - they have some good new songs - they play a good set. Apparently they played the best they have ever last night in Rockford - Paula's show. They of course got trashed by way of Katy's bar tending.

They get a good response and Maggie the lady who books the club likes 'em. We set up and play first of two sets. The place is packed - we sound pretty good - set goes OK. 15 minute break and play second set - a little rough but goes OK. Hang out - Jenny offers us and Johnson's a place to stay.

I'm not sure, but I think we only played here once.

We pack up and drive to Jenny's apartment and "move in". Talk for a while then to bed at 3AM. Have to get up at 7AM tomorrow [well..it's already "tomorrow" really...]. We're going to Winnipeg Canada. The Midwest stretch is over and the next few days are going to be cold. I've heard of 8 inches of snow in Canada. It's about 30° out now and getting colder. They guy on the radio said there could be a wind chill of 25 below. I think it's officially Winter here now.

It gets worse...stay tuned...
