November 02, 1986 - Chicago, IL

Show Day - Cold/Sunny

Up at 9:30 - 4 hours of sleep. Eat then drive to Chicago. Arrive at 2:30 (time zone gave us a break). Hang out. I buy the 'Jazz Butcher' tape "Bloody Nonsense". We load in at 3:30 - set up and sound check. 'ROTA' [Rights of The Accused?] and 'Fudge Tunnel' are opening. This is our first headlining show at the "Cabaret Metro".

Found some photos of Chicago's "Rights of The Accused". Gosh - I haven't listened to the Jazz Butcher in a long while. Bloody good stuff. Rodney is a fan too.

We hang out and Stewart and Shelia show up. The 'Defoliants' can't make it. We eat at Nancy's pizza. I do an interview with a paper in Winnipeg Canada - spacy guy. We eat and Brian from 'Glass Eye' shows up! They're playing at the 'Exit' club tonight. We'll see them after our show at the Metro. New 'Eye's" are nice people.

Glass Eye went through some personnel changes and were now with the new drummer and keyboardist. I've mentioned our pals The Defoliants a bunch before.

We go back to club. Dave R. and Paula show up and I hang out with then at the Ginger Man tavern - had a beer then back to the Metro. We play 9-10. OK show - too fast. 400 people. Pack up and out by 10:45. Talk to people at the 'Exit' club and hang out with 'Glass Eye'. They play. They are still one of the best bands in America. I cry when I hear 'The Calling' - it's just an emotional song for my ears for some reason. Good show. Us four sing on a jam with them. Brian is really excited about recording. We leave and eat at a deli - Shelia is really trashed. We all go back to her apartment and crash. To bed about 4:30AM.

As I mentioned before - we'll be recording a new album in Austin Texas with Brian producing at the end of this tour.
