Up and out. We drive and eat at a Shoney's. Bad food - I'm getting tired of this stuff. Wheel it on up to Muncie IN. I finish the 'Who' biography book. It was slightly disturbing read how people acted - not that I took the book too seriously. Dave Blood reads it next.
We passed lots of books around the van. All of us had no trouble reading while riding in the van.
Arrive at the "No Bar and Grill". Unload - nice friendly people and place. Small - 2 bands are to open. We unload - no sound check here - the system is really small. It's back to the old "party/garage" sound. I kind of like this type of show. We go to eat then back and talk.
Here's a story with a little flavor of the "No Bar, No Grill".
'Singles' open - good band - some good songs. The place is filling up. 'Modern Vending' is next. Goofy stuff - reminds me of the Buttholes, Scratch Acid and the 3 Stooges. Fun and noisy. The we play. A fairly good show with lots of energy. Before we went on, I pick the winners of 5 free albums - cool - Enigma had sent them. Encore. Everybody had a good time. Pack up and sign a few things. If we had T-Shirts we would have sold lots I bet. Talk and pack up gear. Steve Coker was also here tonight. What a character. 'Mets' won the world series - yeah! 8-5. Drive to Fort Wayne and a Days Inn. To bed at 3:34. It's cold!
I found a page with a downloadable 'Modern Vending' track (just click through any JavaScript errors the page may give you). This page and site has many MP3's of Muncie Indiana bands from the early 80's. Downloadable covers even! Steve Coker was a fellow we met when playing at Ball State in Muncie. He was a little older and hung out with some of the college kids we met. He was a good natured receiver of some nerdy dork jokes.
