Show Day - Sunny/Cool

Up at 10:30 - I'm the last to clean up etc. Check out and eat at the "Daybreak" restaurant. Drive to Memphis, We stop in Tupelo Mississippi - the birthplace of Elvis Presley. Got our picture taken in front of the house he was born. Bought some post cards and a record flat. Very weird.

The "Daybreak" was probably the crappy restaurant at the Days Inn. The house in Tupelo is a tiny thing. I unfortunately can't lay my fingers on the picture. A "record flat" is just the one sided cover of an old fashioned LP album. Record companies used to print them up for promo displays and such. This tourist trap probably had them made to make a quick buck. I probably turned it into more post cards.

We get to Memphis about 6:30. We found the the address that Dave R. had given us - there was no club. Called the phone number and talked to the promoter - it was his address. He tells us to show up at the club at 8PM. We decide to eat at "Bill & Jim's" - great food - biscuits were "the kind". The waitress was wild; she mentioned the cook "a colored man makes 'em everyday" - (meaning the biscuits). We couldn't believe it. The best meal in a long time.

"The kind" is lingo for great.

To the club - load in and sound check. Great sound. Hang out. Go on at 11 or so - play very well. 60 people showed up. We hang out and talk to a few people. Spend a lot of time with two guys from Minneapolis. We leave and drive to a hotel - to bed.
