Show Day - Sunny/Cool

Up at 9:30. We get cleaned up and eat - leave town by 12. Drive to Atlanta. Takes only 3-4 hours. We get to the "688" club at 5. We load in and set up. I wrote to Johnny. We sound check at 6:30 - good sound. We go to the "Majestic Diner" - a real diner with that same sharp waitress we had this past Spring. The 'Johnsons' would love this place - I'm sure if they play the 688, they'll go.

Here is a description of the still kicking Majestic Diner.

We hang out in a bookstore for awhile. Back to the club and meet the other band. I talk to Mike and Mark - two friends of 'Eat America' who are from Athens Georgia. Mark is from Seattle - just hanging out in Athens for awhile. not too many people in the club. They go on at 10:45. I like the noise they make - the rest of the guys hate 'em. Their drummer isn't too good. We go on at 12:10 and play fairly well. The monitor mix isn't the same but we get that straightened out. Encore with some covers. I'm slightly pissed at Joe - he didn't tune his spare guitar and forgot to get a strap for the encore. Dave B. couldn't play the Fez! A four note bass line...anyway - I bashed away. We did covers, pack up, get paid. Drive to Birmingham. (I traded a Milkmen T-Shirt for the barmaid's ripped 688 shirt). To bed at 4AM courtesy the central time zone.
