Up at 9. Tom woke me before he took Crystal to work. I get cleaned up and Tom takes me to the record store. Meet up with Kate and Nicky. We go to a health food store and have Granola, milk, bananas, bran muffins and coffee. We then wander around. I was supposed to get a sail board lesson but Nicky couldn't get a board. We hang out on the beach. Kate is 18 and just moved down from Boston 2 months ago. Nice to hang out with girls and not the guys for a change.
Heh - I wonder if they even knew how to sail board?
The fellows pick me up about 2. We pick up the guitars and go to the studio to record. 19 songs - half decent demo. then home to T and C's. We all go to Bennigan’s for dinner and drinks. Lee plays the old birthday trick on Rodney. A guy walked by our table and slapped a woman then walked away. As she turns to throw a glass at him she misses and hits our table! It smashes and Crystal gets covered with water. We complain. The guy didn't apologize. The management cleaned it up. $191 bucks for 11 of us (Mike and his girlfriend from South Africa showed up later).
Whoa - what an evening! Of course the old birthday trick is to secretly tell the staff that one of your dinner party has a birthday that day and they all will come over and sing and generally make the person embarrased. We also had a tradition of whenever we were in a place and there was a staff singing happy birthday to someone, we'd sing along at high volume and use the name "Dumb Seymore". As for the demo - again - I don't have a copy of this. I'd love to get my hands on it. The 'missing' Milkmen demo!
We left kinda drunk and went back to the house. To bed at 3:30. We want to get up to watch Pee Wee's playhouse. This tour is "like a cable knit sweater that some one keeps knitting and knitting and knitting!"
