Woke at 2:30 or so - good nights sleep. We all got showers. The "Eclectic" house where we're staying is a co-ed living house. One shares a bathroom's etc. I thought it was a little strange last night when I took a pee right before we went on and walked in - several girls where talking an putting on makeup. I went anyway (stalls - no urinals). This morning when I came out of the shower there was a girl waiting outside the stall smoking a cigarette. I said hello - everyone here is very friendly.
We went to eat at Friendly's. I was very hungry and the burger I had was really good. Back to campus - went to the hill overlooking the football field at 4PM to see (for FREE!) Trouble Funk from Washington DC. Played 3 "songs" - the first was a half hour long, the second 45 minutes and the third was a half hour long. They play GO-GO music. Everybody was dancing and having a good time. The band was 3-4 horns, a guitarist, bassist, keyboards, a kit drummer, a conga/bongo/timbale player, and a guy that played a Roto-Tom set-up. The drummers where really hot. The sound was really great too - in stereo.
Some info on Trouble Funk is here, and here. Even in the sunny afternoon they had the place jumping - a really fun show. Here's what Roto-Toms look like.
At six or so we went back to house and watched some TV. Went to a Mexican restaurant about 9 or so - good food and a few beers. In Connecticut there is now beer take out after 8PM and there are no beer stores open on Sunday. The restaurant was the only place we could have a brew. Home to Eclectic house at 10:30 or so. We did 2 interviews for 'zines on the steps downstairs and talked to a few people in the house. Upstairs to relax and write this. Dan Mapp moved up here [the upstairs]. Playing tapes and hanging out. I want to write a few things before I turn in - see you tomorrow.
