Up at noon. Eat at "The Egg and I". Dave B and I get van oil changed and checked - OK. Back to Mike's. Go to "First Avenue" at 5:30 for sound check.
We're playing "The Big Room" tonight and not the 7th Street Entry.
We load in - Bill the sound guy is there. Thunders' is late. We hang out. Char and Mike B. come. We sound check at 7:45 - 10 minute - OK great - sound. Soul Asylum is opening. We go to eat.
We play a few shows with the legendary Johnny Thunders. Not sure how we got on this bill but it wasn't earth shattering or particularly thrilling. He was supposedly "clean" now...ahem...yeah. I remember a ridiculous comment he made while sound checking: "More reverb in the monitors please!" At least he said please. I mentioned Bill on our first tour.
Back - play an OK show. Hang out. Thunder's sucks. Home to Mike's for a party. I'm drunk and write silly post cards. To Bed.
I don't comment on Soul Asylum's set but will say here that we played a few more shows with them and I liked them quite a bit. Before the 90's rolled around, they were a tough act to follow. I didn't care for them once they became "Alternative".

Card face is a night shot of the Minneapolis Metrodome, with the city skyline behind.
