Here is my diary entry for August 25:

Today's show got cancelled too (The Riff in Winston-Salem NC, closed due to embezzlement of funds, or so we were told). Since we have no shows until Tuesday (Ohio) we are each going back to our respective homes.. Hopefully I will get back to C'ville in time to see The Cutting Edge special on the Austin scene [on MTV].

(I did make it back in time to see the program. I remember watching it with Rodney at his parents' place. I mention in an additional entry that Glass Eye and Daniel Johnston played one song each, recorded live.)
