Up late again - 12:30. No breakfast. Decide to clean out and in van. First we replace fuel filter and clean out the system. Then we dump all our junk on the front lawn. Dave R. and I drive to nearby car wash. Vac out the inside and wash the outside. Back to house, we clean out junk and reload van up. Dinner is ready - beef and noodles - good stuff.
Rod does laundry and I take a nap. Dave and Joe go buy groceries for our meals the next day or so. Wake up half hour or so - Dave and Joe are still not home. We watch TV - they arrive. Food, magazines. Musician - REM article. Lay around - finish laundry. We decide to leave by 8 tomorrow morning. Up at 6AM. I pack and write this - to bed at 1:30. Off to New Orleans!
In 1985 REM where still the kings of college rock. I remember my sister getting a flexi disc with an issue of Trouser Press that had the REM tune "Wolves Lower" on one side. I remember digging it instantly and would play it over and over again. I was a fan and saw them several times in the early to mid 80's. Once at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby near Philadelphia. Before that - an outdoor show at a small college in New Jersey. The first time was opening for Bow Wow Wow in the very early 80's before I even knew who they were. I lost interest in them later on but recently was impressed with an interview of Michael Stipe I read in Filter Magazine.
