Show Day - Sunny/Hot

Up at 12:30. Hang out and off to Sam's BBQ. Killer food - great meal. Pick up Daniel Johnston. Back to house - leave for San Antonio - 1.5 hour drive. Find Bone Club - dark - old East Side Club style. Unload and hang out. Walk to phone and call home at Dunkin' Donuts. Back to van. Drink beers.

If you're ever in Austin, check out Sam's. By 'old East Side Club style' I mean walls were painted black and they saved on the electric bill by not turning on too many lights.

First band 'Joy of Pain' - Brit rock style to a tee! Too loud. Back outside. Large crown inside club and out. Beer - cops tell us to leave or go inside. We do- suffer through band. Glass Eye up next - much better - tight set - real good. Played my favorite song "Calling". Daniel Johnston then plays three songs and gets the only encore of the night. We play - very good set. Temperature in the club was extremely hot but we survived and got a good response. Got paid $120.

I think this may have been the only time we played in San Antonio.

Packed up and followed Dave Blood's sister and husband Arthur home. Said our goodbyes to Glass Eye. Wrote cards. Dave Blood made calls. Danny and Arthur rode with us and Dave and his sister followed. Home at 2:30-3AM. Lazed around, unpacked. Ate Pork and fries - I was starving. To bed at 3:30.

This last paragraph is a bit muddled. I must have written it right after the show. The general idea is that we packed up, said goodby to Glass Eye and Daniel Johnston, and then followed Dave B's sister and husband home to stay with them for the next few nights.

Wasn't Tacoland in San Antonio?

My God! Yes - How could I forget Tacoland.

I remember we played there with friends of Glass Eye. I think they called themselves "Billy Zygote and the Love Bubbles"?

Duh...and of course we have the song about it...(well it is amazing we remember that night at all considering...)
