Day Off - Sunny/Warm

Up at 10AM. Rested etc. Coffee. Sean is home from school. He has a doctors appointment. We hang out - watch Mission Impossible and Hogan's Hero's - fun huh? Leave 12:30 or so - get gas and food. Off to Enigma. Radio interview at 3:00 with KXLU in Los Angeles - cool.

KXLU in Los Angeles has a slick (Flash) website. Trivia question answer - Dave Blood's favorite TV shows are Hogan's Hero's and Hawaii Five-O. Sean is Terry and Vince's 10(?) year old son. I go on to use the word "cool" eight more times in this entry. Must have been the California sun getting to me. Dude.

Meet Rick at Enigma - cool guy. Showed us Gavin Report - we're "bubbling under". Album cover is printed - cool - cool - cool. To radio - LM University. Looked at Valley. Did interview and gave away 5 records and 8 pairs of tickets to the Madame Wong's show on Wednesday. Cool D.J. "Buzz" - 45-50 minute of fun on the air. Back to Enigma - Rick had arranged for us to get a check from Colin (Colin - we love you). Cashed $300 - they took his check and gave us one of theirs. Wells Fargo Bank tomorrow. We can have Vince fix stuff on the van at his garage for cheap prices.

The Gavin Report was another industry publication that tracked airplay like CMJ still does. It was a thrill for me to see the album art I worked on printed in a magazine.

Get check then go to Josh's house in Beverly Hills. He called while on the radio. New zine interview - pictures etc. Nice guy - turned out to be 14 years old - cool. Drove around - ate at Greek restaurant. Bought kazoo at the worlds largest kazoo store? Couldn't get our names on them. Drove to Melrose street. Walked - record stores - 2 or 3 had our disc - $6.29 - cool. Most stores and shops were closed - reminded us of South Street. LA weekly had our listing several places - cool. Back to van. We dropped Josh off - home to Terry and Vince's. I opted to sleep in van - catch up on writing this etc. Tapes - Minute Men, Glass Eye, Meat Puppets, Miracle Legion. Off to bed late. Good day.

I probably don't have to tell most folks here how great the Minutemen were. Later in our music career we had the chance to play shows with them - just awesome! Glass Eye were friends of ours from Austin TX. We later had Brian Beattie from the band produce three of our records. The Meat Puppets were another great band we had the chance to open up for later on. The 'Pups' catalog is now re-released on Rykodisc as ours is. Miracle Legion we're less well known. I believe I was a fan of "The Backyard" EP.
