Day Off - [no weather report]

Woke at 9AM. Made some calls. Steve Fritz wants us mid September for "Terminal" Benefit show with "Christmas". We made packages of records and press pack. Dave R. and I went to post office and Bob's Big Boy. Back to Terry's.

Steve Fritz was a Philadelphia scenster who published a music zine called "Terminal". It was a newsprint tabloid sized affair. There would occasionally be a flexi-disc included and the magazine featured articles about independent and alternative music artists from all over. I was a fan of the band Christmas so I was probably excited about this show (I have a thing about girl drummers...). I think we also played a show or two with them a few years later. Christmas went on to become the band Combustible Edison. Check out the Roadside Peek site for great Bob's Big Boy photos.

Called Lee W. and we decided to go to drive in movie. "Weird Science" and "Dune". Get changed and off to Lee's. Pick up beers and ice. Cooler in van. Stopped for food then off to drive in. Setup. "Weird Science" - OK teen sex comedy. Funny lines but not a great movie. "Dune" - waste of time - too hard to understand - too many names to remember. Left at 12:30. To Lee's. Talked. Drove home and to bed at 1:30.

Dave B. and I remember feeling like we were in the Flintstones cartoon with us at a drive-in and the setting sun silhouetting the palm trees. With all that beer, no wonder I couldn't comprehend "Dune"; plus there was a river of piss leading away from the back of our van by the end of the movie.
