Wake at 8:30. Shower and pack up. Dave R. calls service center at 9:30 told us to call back at 10:30. We watch TV. Calls back - car will pick us up in 15 minutes. Lock up - picked up. Van fixed for $114 dollars. Put on my Visa - not bad. On our way by 11:30.

This is the first time I mentioned a Visa card. We did use it on this tour for emergency expenses and it bailed us out several times, but I came home to a nasty bill that took a long time to repay. This picture shows Dave R. Joe, Dave B. and Rodney out in front of the Motel 6 waiting for the courtesy car to pick us up and take us to the Chevy dealer.

Get food at Ho-Jo's - to canyon. I drive, Dave R. drives - some food then more driving. Stop for gas several times etc. Eventually arrive in Flagstaff Arizona 1 hour below [Grand] Canyon at 11:30PM. Eat dinner. We decide to hit the canyon on the way back and go straight to LA. I drive 3 hours Dave R. 3 hours - then I drive and get us in the vicinity of Dave R.'s aunt who we will be staying with. He calls - this is 8:30AM. Wakes her up and gets directions. Dave R. drives and finds house. We leave for breakfast at Bob's Big Boy and go to Cirrus money machine.

I seem to remember that the networked system of Cirrus money machines were a fairly new phenomenon. While ATM's had been around for awhile, using one far away from your own bank was pretty new.

Back to Terry's house [Dave's aunt] at 10:30AM. Unload clothes. Dave R. and Dave B. talk, Rod and Joe collapse - I get shower. Dave R. calls Jan. Uncertain about shows - we can get mad!!!???

Jan was the wife of someone at Enigma records. She was supposed to be booking shows for our two week stay in California. There's trouble brewing regarding shows...

Dave R. Dave B. and I go to shopping center to buy beer, Bartles and James wine coolers, contact lens stuff and laundry detergent. Back at apartment and did laundry. Got sun - lazed around and watched TV. Dave R. and Joe went to store and got spaghetti stuff. Made dinner (Terry did). Ate. Terry and Vince went to a party and we stayed home and watched TV - "The Year of Living Dangerously". Over at 10PM. I fell asleep with my clothes on at 10:30PM. We are $635 dollars in debt.

Too bad we didn't have a video camera to make "The Tour of Living Dangerously". Orange County will be our home base for the next two weeks. I remember we were all piled into a small 10" by 10" spare bedroom in Terry and Vince's apartment with our sleeping bags, clothes and a guitar and bass.
