Is Strawberry Sound worth the import prices? A lot of reviews on line say it's a pretty weak effort. I am only missing that and Candy Rock.
I was gonna buy them when they played los angeles, but I only had funds for their dvd and the japaneze version of genki shock. I did end up with a set list though.

Good question. I got it for about $15 used (but it's in almost new condition)... so umm... hmm....
I dunno.... I've hardly had a chance to even listen to it. I can't really comment much on it.

But I wouldn't pay more than what I payed for it ...unless it became extremely rare for whatever reason.

If you do get it... make sure you don't get the Hong Kong Universal Records version. It has a few songs taken out.

"South Bound Suarez" by that one band that has that messageboard.

Just received in the mail the cd-single I won in an ebay auction and it feels like Christmas morning. Hearing another DM tune for the first time, after thinking you've heard them all, is like discovering them again for the first time, you know?
The Dead Milkmen have become so less of a band in the years, and more of a badge I wear or a part of my being. Something like that. When I get in a conversation about music, it's always the same---

person: "What's your favorite band?"
me: "The Dead Milkmen!"
person:"What the hell is that?" or.."Whoah! You've heard of them? That's awesome!"

---even if I havent listened to one of their cd's in months. It shows people I like weird music, or more appropriatly, music unknown to the mainstream. I kind of stand up a little more confident when I say they're my favorite band, like I'm a member of a private/elite club like the Stonecutter's or something. It also connects me to someone who I know nothing about, but am positive they will have a great sense of humor and would be a good friend (that has been true so far).
The DM will probably always be my favorite band, and I couldn't live without their music. I love the goofy bastards, and the music made for other goofy bastards of the world. I also just learned to play Girlhunt on the guitar. Yay.

Cool! I'm just setting up my Myspace band page (which is going at a slow pace...)

In other news.... I just got Shonen Knife's Genki Shock today!
I'm on a Shonen Knife roll this week! ( Sadly, it's not the imported version.)

They might just be the best band in the universe right now. They've been a group for 23 years, and are the only THING I can think of that is consistantly good. Every t.v. show, every band, every artist, every relationship, to me, eventually turns to shit, except for Shonen Knife. It gives me hope. And my posts are getting too long and over emotional.

Rock Animals is the way to start.

SHOOOOOOOONEEEEEN KNIIIIIIFE PLANET!

Much love for Happy Hour, but I think that Rock Animals is the best way to start. C'mon, it has "Catnip Dream!" If that's not reason enough to make it your first, I don't know what is. If you want something more punkier though, and you don't mind that most of it is sung in Japanese, I would make "Pretty Little Baka Guy" a second purchase.

Actually... I don't have Happy Hour yet... :(
But it's going up high on my 'What album to buy next' list. :)
