The Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Gospel Choir.
I picked up the Cd for 99 cents. Aparently it's some comedian who's gig is to rail against big retail, like WAL-MART.
I haven't been brave enough to listen yet. (I need to wait until my wife, who is a retail manager, is long out of listening range.)
But when I finally do hear it, I will give you an update.
The Reverend Billy came over to the Uk about two years ago I think and set up in the heart of London doing his thing with the choir, but we totally failed to get the humour and it was reported as some crazy American preacher who got on to the News and radio but it was all taken seriously, infact untill I read your post and got to the words "Some comedian" I did not know it was ment to be a gag !
Opps and they say its Americans that don't get irony, lol, not any more.

Me too! Devo did some shows with JP Incorporated recently too (if you guys haven't heard of JP Inc., it's JP Hasson of Touch Me Zoo and Pleaseeasaur's current thing). Good stuff.

Also... Mr. Alex.... my god man, don't be scared by the Devo... embrace it... for if we don't pay attention, we may grow tails ourselves.

And here's my favorite Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNxURxqIv80
The unofficial archivist. Keep digitizing those old recordings everybody!

Current Projects: A stack of tapes from Timothy, will be hopefully getting those finished soon! Lotsa upgrades to things that have been circulating for a while.

I adore the intro, I adore the song... probably one of Devo's finest songs.

As for what I'm currently listening to, I've been listening to a lot of Stranglers lately. I go through periods like this from time to time.

p.s. Mr. Alex... how can you be scared of musical geniuses? Next thing I know, you'll be telling me that you have nightmares of Frank Zappa. :)

Their best song hands down in my opinion, though Jocko Homo is a freakin' classic and Uncontrollable Urge is fun as heck.

Mr. Alex -- What makes you fear Devo??
