I bring you very sad news

This morning Dave Blood is no longer with us.
David is my brother. Since the breakup of the band David has never really found his niche in life.
My brother was a smart clever and talented person. Inner peace has seemed to elude him for the last many years.
Sometime last night David chose to end his life.
He left a note that I don't know all of what it said,he was not elaborate-but he said he just could not stand to go on any longer.

Our mother passed away at the end of January and maybe David just had had enough.

There will be a memorial service in a few weeks. I will try to remember to come to this board and post it.It will be in the Delaware County area.

Please pray for the respose of my brother's soul; that he now has the peace that seemed to elude him most of his life.

I want to say that one of the shiniest parts of David's life was being a Dead Milkman and having that claim to fame.And the fans who appreciated the talent and time that went into making the band rise above the ordinary-thank you all for making my brother feel and know that he was indeed somebody.

I am adding this on today since so many have inquired.
David did leave specific instructions that donations and any forthcoming royalties be directed to a charity he chose.There is some legal legwork to gettting this set up and it will take a bit of time to get this accomplished.
The information about this will get posted when it is ready and available.
I will make sure that Dean gets that information and maybe he can do a sticky on it.
David also designated 4 certain people to plan his memorial service and they are doing that as we speak. I live in Texas and so this is being taken care of by the ones he chose-my younger brothers,and two longtime friends of his. The time and place will be announced on here-I am sure Dean will do the honors of posting it-I will make sure all the information gets to you all.

Thank you for sharing some truly beautiful stories about my brother.
I want to believe that David can see and feel it all from where he is.

Thanks for posting this Kathy. I was struggling with how to let everyone know.

I'll miss Dave as a friend and a bandmate. He helped make lots of folks here very happy with the music we all made together. He will not be forgotten.

Dear Dave,
I hardly knew you other than being "that guy who played bass in the band I have really been listening to for the longest time, who sometimes wore dresses in the videos, would disappear into some foreign country for years, and made a great return for the commentary on 'Philadelphia in Love' ". I read your interviews and kinda knew you had soo much in you intelligence and culture wise. You will be missed by so many.

This is unbelieveable news. I can not believe it. I wish Dave could have
stuck it out. I had feelings Dave was missing something and now I understand. It is sad that things could have not been better for him.
I have some old chat room scripts with Dave in them and an email he had sent me.
He is truly a great person. I do not understand why he would have done this.

My family does not quite understand why either,but yet David had struggled with life-even in the simplest form for the last years.

I can't sleep.
My heart is filled with a deep deep sadness that he felt this was all he had to choose from.
David was a very private person-he had his opinions-loud and clear-he could tell you how he felt and fervently so about certain subjects.
But he never really expressed to anyone I guess what he felt about himself on the inside.
I am stoned with grief as we just lost my Mother on January 27th.

David has "been away" for a long time.
Maybe he is happy now-released from life which maybe only gave him conflict and turmoil inside.
It is a sad time for my family.

I'm so sorry and sad to hear this. I never really knew him, of course, but thought he was great. I will always remember be at a dead milkmen - mojo nixon show in ann arbor, and my friend rebecca had an asthma attack, and he gave her his inhaler to use, and of course, I have been telling that story ever since to anyone who would listen, and some who wouldn't. I wish I had better things to say, but I am awfully sad about this, and will keep your family in my thoughts.
