Hey everyone,

My buddy Steve-Onpoint asked me a while back to do some remixes of two of his songs. I had no idea what I was doing, but did it anyway. Check them out here: http://steveonpoint.bandcamp.com/ A lot of people worked on this and they are all pretty amazing.

Faux Pas Hobbes & Yield by DJ Nurrit are the ones I did.

Let me know what you think.

I think i had a mild stroke, however, I was enjoying myself before I blacked out.

Your versions were better than the original.

I like how you are not coming from a rap/hip hop background so you are free to experiment with alternate sounds.

You may want to look into Bastards of Rap. this stuff is like nerdcore mixed with hardcore rap.
MC Lars meets 2 live crew.

Yeah, but don't no from rap.It sounds good as far as that goes.Got real self concious though cause I was sitting outside the library listening and tonight at midnight I turn 50 years old then this guy with a funny looking haircut came up and started pokin' me in my shoulder askin' what I was lissinin' to.

Bonus real Charles Nelson Rielly quote I saw years ago on tv

Interviewer: Do you go to parties?

Charles Nelson Rielly: Are you kidding me,free lunch is my middle name

Yeah! Great job on the remixes. Very diverse range of samples.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, I have absolutely no rap/hip hop background whatsoever (even as a listener). I think the last rap album I heard was N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton, which I think is brilliant. Oh, and the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique is pretty cool.

And yeah, I'll check out Bastards of Rap - thanks for the tip.

Be on the lookout for more possibly!

Try out NWA's - NIGGAZ4LIFE, that was equally brilliant and be sure to look at the date on that album, amazing.

Mind you, I am making no guarantees of palatability or enjoyability. It is just a weird off shoot of nerdcore that is worth a short sampling of for research purposes only.
Other nerdcore you should look into if you have an interest: MC Chris, MC Lars, MC Frontalot, etc.
That is an interesting genera for sure. And white people can dig it (Legally)

I don't know if I would go that far Laughing

Though not a rap aficionado myself, I recently became reacquainted with the genius of The GOATs first album, "No GOATs, No Glory", when I found the cassette for 99 cents at a Salvation Army store. It's freakin fantastic. Real musical instruments being played whilst rapping about weed. It's like The Roots and Cheech and Chong, and they're from Philly.

And it's Maxx from The Black Landlords' old group. Check it out.

Honestly I really was sitting outside and listing to it and got real embarrassed not over the music just that it looked really pathetic me trying to get down with the Hip Hop generation.I was hipped to this though by my friends who are a lot hipper than me

http://youtu.be/CoiF-8actR4 http://youtu.be/FCmsog4KjSg

Even got the whole show on DVD. Dee Dee King is absolutely amazing no matter what most Ramones fans say too.

Dee Dee King is a genius. "The Crusher" is so catchy it totally could have been a Ramones song. Oh wait....it ended up being one!

Wow. "She Swallowed it" is hardcore!

Dude! The guy that raps over these tracks (Steve-Onpoint) is really tight with the Black Landlord guys. I actually met him at the DM/BL World Cafe Live show last year (where you were!)

And because of this whole excursion, I check out the Goats and wow....amazing.

Was Standing In the Spotlight the only release as Dee Dee King? If so, then I have them all. It's a pretty ridiculous album, but I definitely have a fondness for it. Mashed Potato Time always has felt like if Sha Na Na had tried their hand at rap.

"I'm the master of hip-hop." Indeed you were, Dee Dee. Indeed you were.

Did you ever see "The End of the Century"?
DeeDee talks about his rap career- and uses the word "negro" in seriousness like a dozen times. It's embarrassingly hilarious.
