"Rodney"? I don't think my first name requires quotation marks.

No mention of the new album either, lol. Got to love the press. They called REM's retirement a 'break up' this week.

When you are in your 50's and have been playing for 31 years, it's retirement, not a break up, lol. But that doesn't get people interested.

How did I get on this tangent?

Well Joey - you hit the nail on the head...here's a little explanation/rant:

When they approached us with wanting to include a photo in the Sept. issue we said sure. I said I'd send one of my sister's awesome shots over. They insisted that we pose for their own shot and we worked out a time to take the photo only Joe wasn't going to make it - he was on tour. So they said - never mind - we'll take the three of you and then Joe separately and then we'll combine them onto the background shot of the Eastern State Prison (where the video for PRG was shot).

Rodney, Dan and I went to the photographer's studio (really nice fellow BTW) and posed. Then Joe went a few days later. The photographer worked his Photoshop magic and you see what the result was...).

The ONLY thing I requested was that they mention we had a new CD out and that you could get it from our website....

The photo and blurb came out and there was no mention of the CD - only that we were playing Riot Fest East (very cool ) but they also included Rod and Joe's work info and left off the CD mention.

I emailed the guy and he ridiculously said "oh I had it in there but they had to cut the copy short to fit..."

/end rant...

I think they are saying you have joined the ranks of "Madonna", "Oprah", "Meatloaf", "Cher" and "Cheech", but better.

I thought that prison looked familiar... So be honest, did you return to it or have you just never left?
