King in Yellow sounds like such a natural progression from the past. No radical changes, no "old school throwback" nonsense, just Dead Milkmen.
As far as Stoney's goes, it was a touch of a departure from the other albums, a more modern and refined sound (Not rushed, but maybe more produced).
Blues Song is one of the best social commentary songs the DM did, it rang so true. A lot of the live stuff on the production albums had local commentary that I did not necessarily understand, being from the west, but I still hate Steven Friend to this day (If that is his real name).
I love the DM social satire!!! They see it the way, well... I do.
I cannot say what my "favorite" DM album is because they all have a favorite song or 12 on them. Even the Smokin' Banana Peels and You'll Dance EPs have a special place in my heart.
"Hello Dad, I'm in..."
I just looked through the titles of all of the songs on all of the albums and except Crystalline and maybe sha na na. There is not a song I would skip on random.
I am not really a fan of Some Young Guy on the new album, but that is just me, I don't prefer the content.
It makes me dizzy how many good quality songs the DM have put out. _________________ Porn |

To me, Soul Rotation is a rarity among DM albums, in that it's what I consider to be a "Joe album." It's also a very Touch Me Zoo influenced album (and even includes a cover of Touch Me Zoo's "Silly Dreams").
Furthermore, if you ever hear anyone saying, "The Dead Milkmen? They're a fucking joke band," you can look them straight in the eye, with a look that would melt ice, plastic, and would probably undo any nosejobs within a 10-mile radius, and say "eat a dick. They did Soul Rotation."
Now, some would argue that you just proved their point, but I would argue that Soul Rotation is the most serious Dead Milkmen album to ever exist, and the best musically. Now, with the release of The King in Yellow, that might have changed, but the fact still remains, Soul Rotation is some mighty fine Dead Milkmen material. _________________ The unofficial archivist. Maybe stomp on a glass. It is one part I will always remember from an album I haven't listened to in a long time. _________________ GO HABS!! |

I've also always liked Stoney's. "Inner Child" is a great tune. "Blues Song" and "Peter Bazooka" are tremendous as well. The record that has been hardest for me to warm up to is Soul Rotation. After all these years, it's still the one that I listen to least. |
There's a lot of difference among DM fans... personally Soul Rotation is my most listened to album, and my overall favorite. Consequently, the Blues Song ranks toward the bottom of my list, though I love Stoney's in its own way. |

Soul Rotation is probably my 2nd or 3rd favourite, after Beelzebubba and maybe Bucky Fellini. _________________ It's alive! (nearly)

| this album is epic. as it maintains the pure essence of the dead milkmen, it tramples new ground like the big lizard it is. they are the pins that deflate the bloated. |

I love reading all the different thoughts you people have. To me, you are all right in your own ways.
This band has some dedicated ass fans.
We're all here for the same reasons.. that's all that really matters.
Regardless of what album is best.
(In my opinion though, Not Dick, But Richard is best.) _________________ Infant sloths normally cling to their mother's fur, but occasionally fall off. |

I don't care for the lyrics of this song myself.. but I love the musical parts.. It's catchy. _________________ Infant sloths normally cling to their mother's fur, but occasionally fall off. |

Yay! I'm feeling very impatient, and wondering if I should do the double dip. |

Thinking very deeply about the "best" DM album, I think it is impossible to have a "best".
Favorite is possible and appropriate, but not best.
I think deep, like the gutter in a light rain storm. _________________ Porn |
