I think that the cover's supposed to be a puzzle... everything in the picture is referenced in the songs on the album. You just have to figure out what's where.

I'm just now hearing the King in Yellow and it is wonderful. It is great all around and as it has been alluded to before, it is hard to fill the late great Dave Blood's shoes, but Dandrew, fabulous job man. I love the basslines.

Thanks! I guess all those amphetamines the guys fed me were worth it after all!

I believe Dean designed the artwork. I know that's Rodney's hurdy gurdy in the picture. I wonder where all the other bits were sourced (where DO you find a ham these days?)? On the vinyl version that doesn't exist, you can lift up the king's robe, much like the zipper on The Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers LP. Sorry, I had to.

king= king in yellow
rope= willam bloat/hangman
baby= fauxhemia
ham= caitlin childs
our little mess book= happy song
waste not want not pieces= hangman
gun= cold hard ground
wine= some young guy/buried in the sky
skull= some young guy
horse= maybe it is
manual of life book= quality of death
coins= buried in the sky
cow= 13th century boy
studded bracelet= commodify your dissent
puzzle piece= can't relax
drill= melora says
nail polish remover= solvents

is that a cordless phone?...solvents? commodify?
can't make out the name on the sheet music or the book "? & the ?"
don't know the bread or the candle

bit of a strech, any connection between tube of glue and solvents?

The cover artwork was me...

I had the king image first and then came up with the idea of incorporating "Dutch Still Life Painting" style elements.

I collected objects that related to the songs and we did a photo shoot here at my house:

My wife has worked as a photo stylist before so she helped set it all up with me. I then dropped the photo on top of my doctored King image.

Nice work Dirty Sanchez - you're onto the list of the items. I was thinking of running a contest to see if folks could ID all the song references on the cover...

A ham and just about anything else can be purchased in the Italian Market in South Philly.

backwards scroll - "Meaningless Upbeat Happy Song"
razor blade - "William Bloat"
toy horse & jockey - "Or Maybe It Is"
"Our Little Miss" - Meaningless Upbeat Happy Song"

"Prelude In C Major" - I'm working on this one...
I cannot read the title on the bottom book either

I know you can buy those little slider turtles at the Italian Market too. It always smells weird around there. Kinda makes me sad. For the turtle that's gonna die and the kid that's probably gonna get sick from handling it because it's "so cute."

Anyway, back on task. Sorry.
