I get more offended when people aren't allowed to burn flags than when they actually do. This country has many things to be proud of and many things that have earned a flag burning or two. Hah but on behalf of buffalo and our country apology accepted. I bet we piss more maple leaf fans off than any other city. All's well that ends well.

Keep pissing those Leafs fans off. They deserve it.

I think I am in heaven.
Hockey and Dead Milkmen.
throw in a little goat fucking and the trifecta shall be complete.
I live in Utah, there is no hockey (respectable hockey) for many miles.
What do I have to choose from coyochokees or Avalosemylunch?
Glad I am from MI originally, I can take the hate it is ok.
Now if I could only see some hockey on TV in HD more than once per month, that would make me happy.
and Crosby can suck it.

You could always pay the obsurd amount they are asking for nhl center ice. Because of the freaking all star break I have to wait til Friday for the next sabres game, its been about two weeks and I'm starting to show withdrawal symptoms.

If you ever get sick of ryan miller you can send him home, we would love to have him.
Beats Mr. Millennial goalie "I stopped it once, whaddaya waaannt?"
And, yeah, an extra $150+ for hockey ontop of my $180 per month bill, Fuck You Comcast

How about this: the last 3 years comcast has had the playoff games on only 2 out of three games, then most of the games that were actually goingto be televised "froze", usually at opening face off. The distorted image of the face off would be frozen on the screen until the game was over, talk about cruel.
Cocksuckers.

I won't be ready to get rid of miller until enroth (our ahl goalie) reaches his potential he is pretty damn good, better than lalime. I fear that when millers contract is up he will get picked up by a team that can support a world class goalie the way he needs. As contradictory as that sounds, he's a mental goalie and without the proper support he falters and goes into a slump. Miller is the biggest name that we have we need more exceptional goal scorers and defensemen everything has gone downhill since we lost drury and briere in the same year. We've got a lot of potential just no good anchors that can consistently hold us down. We are supposed to be getting a new owner who hopefully cares enough about the sport and not about the money to make the proper moves. We need a new gm badly. Who's your goalie Mr. Millenia?

Jeez that's a rip off and some bs, get fios you'll never look back! That is if its available.

Is it possible to get a Canadian dish? (Bell, or Shaw Direct.) All kinds of hockey up here. (Duh!)

You might need a Canadian address for billing. That could be tough.

We have Jimmy Howard. If you want to talk inconsistency, he is your man, the guy just does not recover after the first shot, ADHD or something. Grandpa Osgood is hurt and probably done for the most part, after him who knows. If the Red Wing could have picked up Nabokov we would have been in a much better spot. I really think we have one of the best all around teams, with a ton of depth, but with shitty and shaky goal tending there is no hope for the cup.
I really thought the Sabers were going to do something good for a while, but they really fizzeled out quickly. I guess in a town where there is not much else to do they don't have to be good to fill seats and sell merch.

No fios here and no Canadian Dish.
I can Download games, but then I am 2 days behind. Someone always spoils. Guess I am doomed.

get someone in Det. to set up a web cam in front of the tv.
if i ever moved away i'd probably miss my teams more than my friends and family...which is why my new place is a 15 minute walk to the stadiums. i'll be at home watching hilights by the time most people are out of the parking lot.

I just read very good things about the Sabres' new owner earlier today. Sounds like you guys are lucky to have him. Vanek, Miller, and some of your younger guys still make for a decent core.

Regarding hockey TV, the package is awesome, but a huge time/money sink. If you can just get the NHL channel, it's not bad. Very good rolling recaps pretty much every night, and best of all for me, anyway, a feed to Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights. I love the quality of those broadcasts.

Speaking of those CBC broadcasts: Sometimes, watching the CBC/TSN coverage makes me embarrassed for US sports and journalism in general. With the NFL on Fox, you have animated robots jumping around and shooting laser beams from their eyes followed by a bunch of talking heads ogling a weather girl and making jokes in broken English about who has lost more hair or who ate more turduckin during half time. With the NHL on the CBC, you have guys speaking functional English, assuming the audience actually has some degree of knowledge about what they are talking about, conveying actual facts, and displaying evidence of the capacity for critical thinking. I know it's only sports, but the stark contrast tends to shame me.

I keep waiting for a fan backlash against the NFL, but maybe it will never happen. There just isn't a less fan friendly league. The NFL is all business, and it's coming at the expense of the fan experience more and more. I can't bring myself to go to live games anymore, even for free, and the TV coverage couldn't be worse. From the ever expanding (in size and duration) commerical breaks to the games only on the league channel and on to the bottom of the barrel scraping network broadcasts, I just can't see how it could get worse. It's gotten to the point where I only wach portions of a few games a year anymore. It has become more background noise than a must see event for me. When you're dealing with a game where the ball is in play only about 11 minutes per game (I think that's the number I remember from last year's WSJ article), it's easy to screw it up for fans. The NFL is a long way down that road.

I am a Habs fan. Hate me if you must. At least I don't cheer for the Leafs. (Or the hated Bruins. ARRGGG!)

Never understood how televised hockey never caught on in the US. There is no sport more exciting to watch live or on tv. (OK Addict, I'll give you rollerderby.)

And the one old excuse was that viewers can't see the puck. (Anybody old enough to remember the FOX glowing puck with the comet tail?) Laughable because anybody who watches sports know that you follow the flow, not the puck. Or ball.

But the NFL has stats like: Won the most games on grass fields when the weather is partly cloudy and humidity is under 34% and the owner was wearing a turtleneck.
or
The record for the longest run back after he had lunch with a musically inclined non-SAG actor in May.

On the other hand, the terms Gotten and Regathered, commonly used by US hockey announcers takes a little away from the respectability of Hockey announcing. Whether or not they are real words does not matter, it is a poor use of the terms.
I have seen a couple of CBC broadcasts and I agree that Canadian announcing is far superior to most other professional sports gibberjabber.

Americans just have no attention span and need that fluff so that they will stay interested during the 3.5 hrs of programming so that they can fit 2.5 hrs of commercials in. Hockey can't fit that many commercials so it is not as popular.
The recent overtime and shoot out rule changes were designed for the US ADHD market. A shoot out every other game steals so much of the thunder and allure of the shoot out of the long past. I almost prefer ties.
But I am guessing that the mass market prefers the new way.

I think with the new HD TVs that hockey would be crazy popular, it is a different game now that you can always see the puck and the player's names. Football and baseball move so slowly it did not matter what the resolution of the TV was, basketballs are huge, so it was easier to watch on a crappy old TV.
With my 58 inch 1080p Plasma, I just invite a couple drunk Canadians over, open the window a crack and it feels like I am there, sort of. The 2 sports that benefited most from HDTV were Hockey and Boxing.

Blah Blah Blah TLDR
Wink

I'm happy that the sabres have a new owner, hopefully we will get a new gm and keep our coach. Darcy Regier is a mystery of a gm and not in a good way. He doesn't do any trades until right at the deadline. He limits new players by making them stay in the ahl for at least a hundred games which is kinda ridiculous. I think Tyler Myers was the only exception besides the gots we had to pull up due to healthy scratches and injuries. And I'd also like to list off players that we have lost over the past couple years. Drury, Briere, Campbell, Spacek, Lydman, Tallinder, Biron, Torres, and Zubrus. Lindy Ruff did not get sign his new contract and he is up this year. I hope we keep miller too when his contract is up too.

We have a barely par core camel has only started producing fairly recently he's on his way to another 40 point season which has been the consistent bar he has set for himself for the past few years. We have some good prospects as far as our young players go but they need time for development. We don't have that strong of a defense we have a bunch of decent defensemen but not many excellent ones.

I agree about the announcers, I hate the pricks that announce on vs I do really like buffalos local announcers Rick Jeanerette and we stole Harry Neil from Toronto. I like hnic and am glad that I'm close enough to Canada to get cbc.

I like the habs I wanted them to win the cup with there streak of upsets. Of course I hate the bruins after our 6 game knockout of the first round in the playoffs last year.
