Hey, I'm curious... am I the only DM fan whose favorite record is Stoney's Extra Stout? Sure, it's their darkest, but I think that's a good thing, as the band handles that sort of motif well. Plus, the Blues Song is their funniest genre spoof, the psychedelia is in full force, the sad songs are extra sad, and I think that Chaos Theory must be irresistible to anyone who, like me, has done hard time in West Philly among all the lazy commies.

Anyway, I'm just curious if I'm the only one who feels this way.

I love Stoney's Extra Stout, I've said it plenty of times. There are some amazing songs from that album, but there are also some pretty horrible ones as well... Don't Deny Your Inner Child and The Girl With the Strong Arm are very bland... uninspired... and almost emotionless (well, until Joe's part about the Canadian woodsman). The Blues song is hilarious, but musically it's almost difficult to listen to and Like To Be Alone... is God Awful! I enjoy "I'm Flying Away"... but it's so unlike any other Dead Milkmen song, it sounds like cover.

Those songs account for about half the album... and even though the other half are GEMS... it doesn't make up for the bad material... especially when I can't name ANY other "bad" Dead Milkmen material. It also doesn't help that that album was only 15 songs long.

Some of my favorite songs are on that album, as well as some of the only TDM songs I dislike.

Glad I'm not the only one who likes it, but we're all going to disagree on the songs. Don't Deny Your Inner Child and When I Get to Heaven are sick, and two of my favorites. I love Like to be Alone and Krhissy, and I'm Flying Away is probably my all-time favorite DM song. But as Aristotle would say, enough of such matters...

I truly love the Dead Milkmen and cherish all of their albums, including the great pre-releases Ive been lucky to hear. Having said that, I can't bring myself to own it or ever listen to it. Thank god Big Deal is on DRAPC.

I'm totally with you Colin. I love that whole album, start to finish. Playing "Helicopter Interiors" with those guys was a true thrill.
I always loved the song "Khrissy" and now I'm married to a lady named Chrissy. I don't understand the hatred for that album....

I Nearly Shit My Pants When You Guys Played That. I Think I Had Asked Joe Near 7,000 Times To Play It.

Khrissy and Helicopter Interiors are two more really good ones, yeah. I was out of town for that show, but was stoked when I heard that was in the set list. Anyway, yeah, glad to hear some love for that record.

You should totally grab the boot of that show if you haven't already.

I love Stoney's. I've always thought that album sounded a lot better produced than the others, even though it's not my favorite. The only songs on there that I don't listen to on a regular basis are Like To Be Alone and The Blues Song. My favorites are The Girl With The Strong Arm, I Can't Stay Awake, Khrissy, and Helicopter Interiors. It's definitely not my least favorite at all.
