I like the Sex Bob-omb songs but I can't get that song by The Clash at Demonhead by Metric, out of my head. I think the 8-bit version of "Threshold" is about the funnest thing I have heard in a while. _________________ "Nobody likes a quitter. Good stuff has been mentioned.
Good stuff has been left out, such as:
Fishbone
FEAR
Circle Jerks
And if you come to the Clark Park Festival on September 18th you can see some brilliant fucking CLASSIC Philly bands that should make the list- including:
EDO
Stinking Lizavetta
and
McRad! _________________ Let Stand No Dance Leg Quiet. |

FISHBONE - really ?
Have you seen the documentary
Everyday Sunshine : the History of Fishbone?
Saw them live several times. Loved them, but over the years their
compass needle turned too much in direction SKA in my ears... |

Fishbone is probably the greatest live show of all time. I can't even count how many times I've seen them, but my first Fishbone show was 22 years ago.
Haven't yet seen the documentay, hope to soon...
Out of curiosity... how far along their discography did you get? The most SKA stuff was in the first 3 releases, and they've covered a TON of ground since then...
They still have some skankin tunes here and there, but they are SOOOOO much more than a ska band... _________________ Let Stand No Dance Leg Quiet. |

Oh, and who said Corn Mo?
Corn Mo is a fucking GENIUS!!!
He just played at Johnny Brenda's the other night. I so wish I had been in Philly for it.
Oh, and Fishbone is playing the House of Blues in AC on the 9th. $25 (which, for an HOB show is like free...) 21+
Now you know.
And knowing is half the battle. _________________ Let Stand No Dance Leg Quiet. |

Sorry wad,
some songs can do that...
saw "Ex Drummer" lately (sick flick) international title
according to imdb "My Way Is the Highway" and there was this one song
blow from the band Ghinzu.
I thought, they threw deus (the scottish singer with belgian musicicans) from the throne of independant belgian
music. Sadly, it only seems a one hit wonder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRe3c5gt2oY but it's great.

Fuck yeah!
I actually just bought a painting by Angelo Moore, and when it arrived I texted the art dealer that I had a full on Fishboner...
Sunless Saturday IS THE SHIT. My band, BEER, occasionally plays it, and now and again I've been known to break out an acoustic rendition of it.. One of the highlights of my life was singing it with Angelo at JC Dobbs...
If you don't already have it, I highly recommend the live version form the Live in Amsterdam CD. It's amazing. _________________ Let Stand No Dance Leg Quiet. |
