Spam, meat in a can...at this point you should define "meat"... ok, it goes like this, I used to eat spam, fried in a really hot pan till it was really crispy on both sides, and lots of ketchup on it. So one day about 4 or 5 years ago I broke out a can of spam and cut it into 3 really thick slices lengthwise I didnt look at the cross section of where I cut it, I just plopped it in the pan ( cut side down) and watched it sear, So... the so called "meat" is sizzling away and I flip over the first piece and then the second one was sliglty stuck to the pan so I wedged it up with my spatula and it popped up leaving a giant artery stuck to the pan. Not a vien but a huge artery like about 3/8 to 1/2 wide and 1-1/4 long. I just threw the whole thing in the trash. Meat in a can is a bad thing. This is my spam story and i'm sticking to it.

I've never had that experience, but it's pretty much my reaction to spam anyway.

Corned beef in a can isn't so bad.

Spam is the food of desperation over here, it is Bad Bad Bad stuff, but if its all you can afoard its better than starvation, other wise keep clear of it, its made by the process of Mechanically recovered meat, thats so nasty a method you just don't want to know about it, just try not to eat meat in any kind of a can.

In high school English class we had this Spamfest day, because our regular teacher was out on morphine. I got extra credit for eating the jelly on top of the raw spam still in the can. I would probably eat cooked spam again if someone served it up nice, but given a choice between paying for spam and not paying for spam, I'd put the money towards some yummy chef boyardee.

He was gay and died of AIDS. I think Stewie's voice in Family Guy is based on his.

Rock Hudson was a big time movie star back in the 40's. He was in the closet till he died of aids.

The Hollywood studio system of the times kinda of made all its "Stars" go into the closet at least as far as the publicity dept,
given that Homosexuality was illegal in britain at the time ( not sure about in the U.S.A,)
so poor Rock and all the others had no choice but to promote the "Straight man" image,
how ever certain "Gay" idiologys were subverted into films and made it past the censor, its quite good fun spotting these "In jokes" in classic movies, it was well known in hollywood at the time who was and who wasn't gay.
A British Radio show of the same era had a program regularly broadcast at a popular time featureing two suposedly straight men called "Round the Horn" they often spoke "Polari" which was a slang language developed by Homosexuals to avoid being picked up by the police, it was not widely known that "Polari" was a Gay Language and many an upright straight Brit chortled over this unaware the joke was on him.
