Ok, some of you might have heard about this already, but here goes.
Nintendo has announced an official name for their new console, originally codenamed the "revolution." It is supposed to ship as the "Wii" (pronounced We). This name is supposed to display the togetherness of console gaming and online console gaming, i.e. we.
Jokes about this name have been abundent on the internet since the announcement a couple of days ago, and there are also reports that Nintendo has not obtained a patent for this name either (which would mean that this is not an official name, and that a real name will be announced later).
Any thoughts, opinions, or jokes are welcome! :)
To tell you the truth, I am starting to warm up to this name, myself... it kinda has a cute ring to it, and is much more original than...ummmm... "Playstation 3," or "XBOX 360."
I just miss Sega, who gave us the best console names.... like "Saturn," "Genesis," "Master System," or one of my favorite consoles of all time, the "Dreamcast." We miss you, sega!

It's just a name. I've never been playing a video game and thought to myself, "Neo Geo? Man, that's really fucking stupid."
I'm really looking forward to the new Wii controls. It's going to make arcade conversions a little tricky, but the technology has such a high ceiling for innovation...something the gaming industry has been seriously lacking in for almost a decade now.

You guys have seen the controllers right? I think they are going for the crazy approach in the race for best next gen console.

Well, I give Nintendo kudos for having a new controller approach. The PS1 originally had a controller that was evolved from the SNES controller. Then they evolved to an analogue controller. Then, nintendo had a new approach with the n64, but then had a similar approach to the PSx controller for the GameCube (you heard me tight, 2 analogue (the "c" stick is analogue), four "fire" buttons). Don't even get me started on the bloody fiasco that some call the "XBOX" controller. It is nice to see a true innovation in game controllers since the NES (where game consoles went from the "joystick" of the 2600 and related machines to using a "gamepad" i.e. famicon (nes in US)).
The name gets me hot too. Wii will all band together to stamp out the mediocrity of the PS3 and XBOX.

I like the Xbox controller actually not the shitty big one that first came out but the smaller ones and the 360's wireless controllers i like the spin they did to the dreamcast controller. I also love the fact that you can download any nintendo game via the wii itll be nice to get any game i cant get a hold of on an emulator.

Well, to get back on topic..... no. And once I get a DS and Animal Crossing: Wild World, there will be even less reason to leave the house.... and anyways, I have tons of boys and girls wanting to talk dirty with me in chat everyday, so...... why leave the house (well, except for work, shopping at the thrift store, or buying games for consoles, of course).
Wii will rock us all in 2006! (hopefully it comes out this year)
I love the Wii, and wii will all be connected like a family..... wii will be together always! Wii will love each other. WII!
