Hoser

I'm really not liking soulseek. Is it me, or does their server go down an aweful lot? Is there a better music finding program out there? Like WinMX?

Don't ask me I only download .wav files off newsgroups. Let me know if you know of an easier way though.

WinMX was horrible. I couldn't find ANYTHING that I wanted. That's why I have Soulseek, sure it's a pain in the ass sometimes and the search results are crappy these days, but it's still the best p2p. And you can usually find anything you might want, which is good if you like weird stuff. Have you got the latest version? It's a little better.

If you're getting more popular stuff, WinMX is probably OK, but I'd prefer to use BearShare... or even Limewire. But on these you can generally only get specific tracks here and there. This is fine if that's all you want, but I download albums.

Take the name I use on this board, but take out the spaces. You'll get my Soulseek name that way.

I don't remember my SoulSeek ID, I hardly use it. I use WinMX from time to time as well. But Tarantula, if you want to download entire albums or discographies at a time (seriously, entire discographies) then get a BitTorrent client, it's way faster and much more dependable.

I'm on dial-up. Torrents are a no go.

Aww, that sucks man. Well then, I guess SOulSeek probably would be the way to go. But if you ever do get some form of hig-speed internet definitely check out BitTorrent, it freakin' rules.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying how everything is going to torrents. The latest album leaks used to be on p2p first. Now, we get sloppy seconds.

That's cause you're behind the times.

Speaking of album leaks, this one torrent tracker I use had a leaked copy of the new Beck album (it's supposed to come out next month). Unfortunately, the admins took it down and the only sensible explanation I found in the forums was that it was not encoded at a high enough bitrate. It was encoded at 160 kb/s and the trackers requirements were 192 kb/s minimum. I think a good amount of people got it before they took it down though.

Bleh, I've had that Beck album for a week or so. It sucks! ;)

I can't actually get broadband here yet, so it's not even my fault... but I'm poor anyway. But yeah torrents are full of gaylords. They've got so many wanky little fag rules and are all audio wankers (ooh 192 or bust!). I'd like to spit on them all.

Give the guy a break BTO, If I had to live in a web and eat dead insects all the time I think I'd be a little cranky too.
