Home Recordings 1984 - '97
Joe has just updated the jacktalcum.com website with a clean stripped down interface. Plenty of good stuff there. Did you know he’s playing a solo show on 09/24/2005 with Kablammo @ The Well, 1631 Loretta Avenue, Feasterville, Pennsylvania. 7 PM sharp. All Ages! Did you know that Home Recordings 1984 – ’97 has been released by Valiant Death Records on compact disc! The 24-song cd is on sale for the entire month of August for only $5!

Also of note is the Bootleg of the Month page. This month you can download an MP3 of the Dead Milkmen performing as The Draco Reptilians at the Khyber Pass Pub on August 3, 1991. To quote Joe:

We used this occasion to test out a new set of songs which would eventually comprise most of the ‘Soul Rotation’ album. This was before we went into the studio to record these songs, so some of the arrangements are slightly different than the album versions. This is the only time that I can remember the DM performing an entire set of new material (besides our first ever show, of course). Dean and Dave played almost flawlessly and tight as usual, while Rodney and I sound like we’ve had one too many Extra Stouts.

Grab the download and enjoy the show!

    Thanks for posting this, Dean.

Just so you know, the Bootleg of The Month has changed, but the link here to the Draco Reptilians show will still work. I did not remove the file. Also, in case you missed it, the very first B.O.T.M. is still online, in the btlg directory. That was Dead Milkmen at the No Bar & Grille in Muncie, Indiana, 1986. (There was a link to it at one time from the FFA.)

    hey Joe Jack,
Jed McKee here, co-ordinating this year’s Fall Equinox Festival of the Clark Park Music and Arts Community, to be held in West Philly, saturday, September 16th.

We’d like you to play around 7pm, as part of the accoustic wind-down after the noise ordinance (no amplification) kicks in at sunset. (We’re hoping to get Eric Peterson/Mischief Brew to play around 7:30 as the very last act. )

Your name was given to me by Brian Nothing, guitarist for Szylak and my new upstairs neighbor, as the man for the job. Also, as you might guess, it’s an unpaid gig, but commercial activities on your part will not be discouraged.

Please let me know at if you are available and interested.

    Thanks!

    Jed McKee, Festival Co-ordinator.

Dead Milkmen,,,, What a flash from the past. I went to like 4 or 5 of your Denver concerts. Would go again too, if I knew about it. Heard a “rewind” song on ktcl the other day, and decided I would live the milkmen days all over again. If you say pretty please, I’ll buy a t-shirt, although suprisingly, I have less money now a days. Mabye because the music contributed to my lifelong desire to say FU to authority. A very satisfying feeling, I may add. I got fired from allegro coffee just the other day for demanding a morning cup of coffee free of charge. (It was my first day, and I’m doing fine though….) I would do it all over again, the same way even. Mabye I’ll buy two t’s. Just wanted to say thanks. Not for all the hits, but thanks for all the hits. A skeleton walks into a bar, he asks for a beer and a mop……. You should re-market your hits with new dates, and make another bit of cash off of the youth of America,,, It would be good for them. And they won’t know the difference if it’s new or old. I’d think it’s cool at least, and that’s what matters.

  21. Hampster Says:

This is the official comment, after my previously posted comment, to affirm, that I did indeed, make a comment, followed by another one.
