New Site Design

Welcome to the new Dead Milkmen website. I’ve redesigned the website from top to bottom and am now using WordPress software to update and manage the page content. Things may be a little rough around the edges here and there, but I hope to get things ironed out as quickly as possible.
I still need to edit some old content - the FAQ is due for an update at least. I have lots of photos I’d like to scan and I’m on the lookout for an image gallery solution that I can integrate with WordPress. If you know a good image plugin solution that might work here - please let me know in the comments.
You can see one of the new features is the ability for news items and posts to have reader comments. I’ll try to leave these on as much as possible, but some posts might have comments turned off. When commenting - please stay on topic. I reserve the right to remove comments for any reason.
You will also now be able to search the site’s news and archives for information by search term and catagories.
As always - any suggestions are welcome.

Wow! I think I am the first to comment about this on the main site! Wheeee! Unless this doesn’t get saved. Then I feel like a boob for interrupting anyone who got this. Sorry.
Umm hmmm.

It looks great. Very classy.

Hey! It looks snazzy! I like that it’s got an RSS feed, too — makes it easier to keep up with the site. And yeah — really cool look’n’such. I dig it!

ah yes, the only constant in this life is change… the re-tooled site looks great…. and i am quite pleased that the photos from the memorial shows were retained ( once i figured out where they were..lol) but dean, have the video clips from those shows been hidden anywhere? still can’t find ‘em…..
June 27th, 2005 at 2:17 pm
Hmmmm. I have the video clips on my HD at home. I’ll repost them tonight if possible. Were they linked off the old Video page? That’s probably where I’ll drop them.

Hot! I like this a lot more. When I first came upon DM.com (back in the day) I was impressed that a then-defunked band had a decent website (unlike, say, King Missile). This is even nicer.
I’m one IE/Win here at the workplace and I notice that this comments box extends over the 10px, #EEE border on the right.
June 29th, 2005 at 12:53 pm
Thanks Ian!
Can you tell me what version number IE you’re using? I’ve looked on IE 6, and IE 5.5 here and it’s OK on my screen…. (IE 5.0 is all messed up but then I’m not caring about that version).
I haven’t tested on a Mac so not sure what it looks like there.
June 29th, 2005 at 3:43 pm
6.0.28
I didn’t want to immediately repost (partially because the quirk is so, well, quirky) but after I hit “Submit Comment” the field was back to what it should be (maybe 20px away from the edge of the container). Then I felt dumb. But as I write, it’s out there.Check it. I’d chalk it up to not a big deal. It’s most likely the browser being shoddy.
I should just shut it and say, “NICE SITE, DEAN!!”

Site looks good today… Don’t know what you changed overnight - but it worked!
I like it… I like it!

While I must admit feeling a bit cliche, I simply had to make a quick post. Alas… If I could count the number of bones that I broke to DM on the ramps as a teen… It is awesome to see that you’re still enjoying your art. As an indie musician, I am hopeful that I have such an enduring run!
No one ever built a site about… nitro-burning funny cars.

I’m not sure any music brings back better memories of being a teen. About once a year I still go through a DM phase lasting a couple of weeks. My wife fucking hates it.

Thank you for your music, it has made me take myself less seriously. Because lord knows I have a lot to bitch about, you know being born white, middle class and north american. It’s a hard life but despite these handicaps I go on and your tunes help make it worth while(this line is seriously not sarcastic). I was also wondering if you might have recomendations on vinyl.
p.s. the live mpeg is great, I’ve been listening to it while i checked out the site and wrote this. Fuck, minor threat owned the 80s but the 90’s were totally “surf’s up dude” I also liked the king missle reference in the comments mabey a bad site but a great band, it like when frank zappa said does humor belong in music. These two bands asked the question does philosophic humor/ pseudo politics belong in music. The sudleties of the DM still make me laugh and cry were as the DK just make me do the latter. Well I’m drunk so before I babble again.
catch you on the flipside

UndeadZombie - nope - no album called “Cremem of the corn.” But maybe you were thinking of “Cream of the Crop”?

Hey you guys, The Thing didn’t get me when I was a young fast and skinny vegan, but now that I eat cows I’m fat and slow…I hope The Thing doesn’t get me now!
Meanwhile, back to my steak!
Oh yeah; I never saw the old site, but this one’s pretty nifty!
Post more free stuff and coupons for pizza (or cheese-steak hoagies) and I’ll be back!
Come play in Cambridge or Boston and bring The Thing with you; I’ll take the chance!

That’s great that you are not afraid of RSS. We can get a lot of information this way.

Dead Milkmen,
Wow, I’ve got to say that I’ve been a huge DM fan since about ‘98. I absolutely love your silly style and not-too-serious lyrics. I was hooked the first time I heard ‘Methodist coloring book’. I own: ‘Beelzebubba’, ‘Eat your paisley’ (both on cassette-I really need to upgrade to cd; legally, I promise) and ‘Not Richard but Dick’ and ‘Metaphyscal graffiti’ on cd. Tell me, what’s missing from my collection?
I’m in the midst of my annual DM phase and none of the magic is gone- love you guys, wow! Gotta go finish watching Scotty die- God bless that boy

Hey DM - I’m a fan all the way in sunny Australia. Love your lyrics!
The site is looking great, and remember - when it comes to photos, the more the merrier. Keep us informed on the other side of the world.
Cheers,
John

I’m still hanging around……. HOw about a link to all blogs at once, it would be a blog explosion. Too many blog areas, make my blog feel invalidated. It’s like I’m having a blog inadequacy thing or something along those lines.
